A suspicious fire left five city-owned golf carts gutted in Central Park, sources said yesterday.
The electric-powered maintenance vehicles -- owned by the Central Park Conservancy -- were parked behind the North Meadow recreation center near West 97th Street when the fire broke out about 7 p.m. Wednesday, according to the New York Post.
By the time firefighters extinguished the blaze, two of the vehicles were reduced to smoldering shells and the rubber tires and steering wheels on three others had melted. A wooden storage box was also damaged.
