Former Flushing Meadows-Corona Park Administrator Estelle Cooper, 82, passed away over the weekend. In July she was indicted on grand larceny charges for allegedly stealing over $50,000 from the Unisphere, Inc, a nonprofit conservancy group she helped create. She was scheduled to appear in court in February. She faced 15 years in prison if convicted.
On Jan. 6th, 2012 Cooper quietly left her job at the park after 17 years.
A service was held this afternoon at Sinai Chapels in Fresh Meadows and she was buried at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
