Queens

By Geoffrey Croft

A man was stabbed several times and robbed last night in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park NYC Park Advocates has learned.

Police say a 39-year-old hispanic man was stabbed in the back and chest and punched by a group of male hispanics between the ages of 18-20 years-old.

The group stole his mountain bike.

The victim was taken to Booth Memorial Hospital in serious condition according to EMS.

The incident happened around Meadow Lake near the East Entrance of the park at approximately 6:10pm last night.

Police believe between 3- 5 assailants were involved in the incident.

After 6pm there is not a single dedicated Park Enforcement Patrol officer for the entire borough of Queens.

Last week we announced that the City was doubling the number of Park Enforcement officers by hiring 81 officers.  The PEP hires brings the number up but far below the 450 officers the city employed in the 90's.
