Drug arrests in Central Park have seen dramatic increase over the same period last year while narcotic arrests city-wide are down according to NYPD crime data reviewed by NYC Park Advocates.
Regular NYPD patrol arrests for drug offences in the park shot up 1,700 % - 18 vs 1 arrest compared to the same time last year. That figure does not include arrests in the park made by the Narcotics Division of NYPD's Organized Crime Control Bureau which are up 225 % - 13 vs 4 arrests for the same time last year.
Meanwhile drug arrests city-wide are down 7.1%.
