Central Park: Mugging Victim Fights Back Recovers Phone From Thief

Manhattan

By Geoffrey Croft

A mugging victim in Central Park fought back over the weekend and recovered his phone, NYC Park Advocates has learned.

A 28-year-old man told police he was attacked by a white male in his 40's, who punched him in the nose and took his silver Apple I-phone 6.

The victim struggled with the attacker and was able to wrestle his phone back.

The assailant punched him in the head and face then fled westbound out of the park without the phone.

The victim took himself to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital where he was treated for bruising to the left eye and nose and doctors reported what happened to police.

The incident occurred on Friday night at approximately 5:30 in the park's North woods near 109th Street and the East Drive.
