A 40-year old black male was shot in the right foot while in the park. A second black male, age 32, reported hearing an altercation when he was struck in the face as he walked by the park along Vernon Blvd near 41st Avenue. He reportedly felt a" burning sensation" in his face before realizing he had been shot.
The incident occurred at 10:30pm., according to the police. The two men did not know each other according to police.
Police collected at least four shell casings early Monday morning. One was found inside the park near the baseball fields, another by the entrance of the park near Vernon Blvd & 41st Avenue. Two others were found across the street by the Queensbridge NYCHA Houses.
The victims were treated at NYU Cornell Hospital and are in stable condition.
The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
Just last week the area was the scene of another shooting. A black man and woman approached a 35-year-old man around 7 p.m. on Thursday June 7th in front of 40-05 Vernon Blvd. near Queensbridge Park, when the male suspect shot the victim in the right leg. The two suspects fled in a dark SUV on 10th Street, police said.
