A 19-year-old female college student reported being attacked Tuesday night along the Bronx River Parkway.
The victim, a student at Monroe College, said she was walking east bound on Fordham Road after class at 8:40 p.m. on the corner of Fordham Road and Bronx River Parkway.
She was approaching an underpass of the Bronx River Parkway when the assailant came from behind, grabbed her and dragged her to the ground into overgrown vegetation about two feet high.
The man groped her over her clothes.
Passing cars began beeping horns as they went by. No one got out to help however.
The attacker panicked and ran into the grass towards the exit ramp of the Bronx River Parkway South.
The man is described as 5-ft-7 tall, dark pants and a light-colored hood. He smelled like alcohol and may have had an injury to his head from the attack.
Police are investigating the incident as an attempted rape.
No arrests have been made.
