A 47-year-old male was assaulted in Coffey Playground at 6:45 p.m on Sunday evening. The victim's brother and a friend attacked the man with a bat and struck him in the back. The victim was taken to an area hospital and treated.
Angelo Melendez, 33, charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon and Timothy Gonzalez, 33, charged with assault. It is not clear what sparked the fight. - Geoffrey Croft
