Man Shot Twice in Coffey Playground


A 26-year-old male resident of Red Hook Houses West was shot twice in Coffey Playground on Sunday Night at approximately 10:30pm. The victim  was shot in the right shoulder and right hand and was treated at  Long Island College hospital. The playground and park house were closed by the NYPD for the crime scene investigation.

It was a violent day in Coffey Playground as a 47-year-old male was assaulted with a baseball bat four hours earlier.  

Police arrested 18-year-old Javier Gonzalez of Dwight Street, also a resident of Red Hook West Houses, on August 1o in connection with the August 8th shooting.  Mr. Gonzalez was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and assault. it is not clear what sparked the shooting. - Geoffrey Croft
