Heat Stroke Victim In Orchard Beach

EMS responded to a number of heat related calls yesterday in the city's beaches including two in the Bronx.

In Orchard Beach, a 65-year old woman suffered heat stroke and was unresponsive. She was brought to Jacobi hospital unconscious but breathing. The incident happened at 4:07 near section 7.

A few hours earlier a 44-year old woman fainted from the heat on the beach by section 4, near the boardwalk. She was revived.

Last year 31 people died from heat related illnesses up from 10 the year before according to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. - Geoffrey Croft
