Soccer Player Assaults Park Security In Midland Beach

Staten Island

A park security employee was assaulted by a soccer player in Midland Beach in Staten Island last night, A Walk In The Park has learned.

Farrat Shukur, 28, was swimming in a closed off section of the beach while attempting to retrieve a soccer ball. A Parks Department City Seasonal Aid (CSA) providing security on the beach had repeatedly instructed him to exit the water. He ignored the directives and swam deeper and deeper out into the water.

At one point Shukur exited the water and was about to re-enter again when the officer approached and instructed him to leave. They exchanged words and Shuker became belligerent. He head-butted the park employee while standing on a jetty.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:00. A law enforcement official described the man as "intoxicated."

Farrat Shukur was charged with Assault, Criminal Trespass, Obstruction of Governmental Administration. - Geoffrey Croft
